Headshots are our primary business.  Every entertainer, actor, and model should have a captivating headshot and we strive to make each one we produce a standout.   We will work with you to get just the look you are after.  Headshots can be done in the studio or using available light outside.  We will take care of the layout and reproduction of your headshot or, alternately, we'll produce a retouched master print and digital file that can be taken to a headshot reproduction service of your choice.   Currently we are shooting headshots digitally and are thrilled with the quality, but classic 35mm or medium format film service is available.  Please contact Barry at (973) 759-5643 or Barry@EffectivePortraits.com so that we may discuss your needs.

Notes on Headshots

If you are an actor or model without an established career, your headshot will be crucial for getting work.  A great headshot will not guarantee work, but a lousy one will surely compromise your chances.  There is only one first impression; the extra money spent on a pro is money well spent.  Shop around and find a pro that produces the kind of work that you like and with whom you feel comfortable--even if it isn't Effective Portraits.

An outstanding headshot is the sum of several components: a great expression that projects personality, appropriate wardrobe, a balanced pose, flattering and/or striking lighting, and correct technical execution.   Of these, good expression is perhaps the most important and often the hardest to achieve.   Nailing that winning expression usually requires a collaborative effort between the subject and photographer, so, again, make sure you are comfortable with the person on the other side of the lens.
