Headshot Pricing

Listed below are the features and pricing for several headshot packages.   The prices include the session sitting fee and thorough retouching.  Please feel free to inquire about other headshot package combinations and their associated pricing.   

Standard Package :

In-studio session with a choice of two different backgrounds, two different looks (clothing/hair changes), up to 2 hours of studio time, 3 retouched master images, 3- 8"X10" master prints (with or without name and stats), 3 full-resolution master images saved to CD,  and all session images saved web-ready (reduced resolution) on CD.   Price: $249.00

Deluxe Package:

In-studio and outdoors (weather permitting) shoot with 4 different looks spanning 4 hours.  6 retouched master images, 6-8"X10" master prints (with or without name and stats), 6 full-resolution master images saved to CD, and all session images saved web-ready (reduced resolution) on CD.  This package may be split into two separate sessions on different days.  Price: $399.00

Basic Package :

In-studio session with one background, two looks, up to 1 hour of studio time, 1 retouched master image, 1 8"X10" master print (with or without name and stats), 1 full resolution master image on CD and all session images saved web-ready  (reduced resolution) on CD.  Price: $149.00

Publicity Photo :

In-studio session with one background and look.  Limited to 20 minutes and  25 images.  You will receive one retouched 5"X7" master print and all images saved web-ready (reduced resolution) to a CD.  Price: $79.00

We cover our costs with our package pricing, so we are not going to gouge you on any extras you may desire.   If you need contact sheets, extra CDs, extra prints or quantity reproductions of your headshots, let us quote you a price. 

All headshot sessions must be booked in advance and require a deposit of 50% of the total package cost or $100, whichever is the lesser.   Rescheduling or Cancellation of your appointment within 48 hours of your scheduled time may result in forfeiture of your deposit.  Please contact us well in advance if you foresee the need to move your appointment. 

Family-Portrait Pricing

Family portraits are priced differently than headshots.  The total price for the session is composed of four parts:

• Sitting Fee - the basic fee to cover the photographer's up-front costs and time.  This fee is due as a deposit to hold your session.  Some photographers fail to disclose their sitting fee when listing their package pricing, making their pricing appear more attractive than it actually is.   
• Package Price - the cost of a set of prints from one of several packages.  Package pricing offers significant savings when compared to ordering all the prints individually from the "Single Item Pricing" list.  The package price includes full retouching of all package images (this alone makes it worth the price).  Particularly heavy retouching (removal of braces, tattoos, or reshaping) must be pre-approved by the client and will be an additional charge. 
• Extras - Extras can include items such as folios, albums, frames, and special treatments that are not part of the print package.  Extras purchased along with a package will be significantly discounted.
• Tax - Only the Package and Extras will be taxed.  The sitting fee is considered a "creative fee" and is not taxed.

          Total Cost = Sitting Fee + Package Price + Extras + Tax

Sitting Fee

The basic sitting fee for sessions up to 2 hours in length is $70.  For work done at your location, an additional $20 dollars will be charged to partially cover the added travel and setup/breakdown time. This travel fee applies to New Jersey locations within 30 radial miles of the studio (Belleville).  The fee may be somewhat higher for other locations.

Notes on Pricing

 We want to deliver a great product at a very competitive price and, whenever possible, will work with you to make a package that fits within your budget.  Of course, there are limitations and we will always be undercut on price by large retailers such as JC Penney, Sears and Walmart.

There are basically two pricing strategies studios use.  The most common is to offer a low sitting fee and a minimal package at a very attractive price.  The studio is then obliged to make its money by selling the extras after the session.  You will find these a-la-carte extras cost much more than you might expect.  Studios that use this strategy and survive have an outstanding sales staff.  Most customers end up buying some of the extras that they never knew they needed and, in the end, spend much more than they expected.   The other strategy--the one we use-- requires a higher sitting fee and factors in most of your extras from the start.  We never use high-pressure sales and our single-item pricing is competitive.   

A deposit (cash or credit card) is required to reserve your session.
